Fun Ways to Sneak Exercise into Your Busy Day: Let's Get Moving Project Managers!
We all know we’re busy, and we always have an excuse at the ready as to why we don’t have time to do a full workout. We’re juggling back-to-back meetings, responding to emails (sometimes late at night), and getting our kids on and off the school bus, and managing meal times for our family.
But what if adding some fitness into our day didn’t feel like something else on our never-ending to-do list?
Here’s some fun and creative ways to build in some movement into your day (without missing a beat).
- Consider Standing – Swap your traditional desk for a standing or treadmill desk. You’ll burn calories by not sitting all day, and if you’re on an under-desk treadmill, you can walk slowly while answering emails or building out your project documents. Calories plus focus work is a win-win!
- Walking Meeting– Take one-on-ones on the go. A brisk walk together around the block can energize both of you, get some fresh air, and you’re creativity while you’re moving is going to be through the roof!
- Shower Dancing– Have you ever put energetic music on while you’re in the shower in the morning? Take that 10 minutes to clean up and bust-a-move at the same time! And you won’t even have to worry about breaking a sweat. Trust us, you’ll feel energized for your day.
- Gamify Your Steps – Use a fitness tracker to track the number of steps you get and set personal goals. Try to get more steps in today than yesterday. Challenge your colleagues, as competition can make it far more exciting.
- Take the Stairs – If your office on a higher floor and you’re used to taking the elevator, can you build in some stair climbing into your day? Get some cardio in, work those leg muscles, and burn some extra calories. Start gradually if you need to and work your way up!
Adding movement into your day doesn’t have to mean carving out an hour to go to the gym or overhauling your schedule. It’s about finding little ways to stay active that fit into your life. Consider framing fitness as personal self-care and something that’s fun, energizing, and even productive!
So try a few of these ideas this week. Here at PML, we want you to live your best (and most healthy) life!
